Funding Education

At VoDA we believe that a complete secondary education is the cornerstone of personal, social and economic development. Many people do not realize that high school in developing countries is not free.In Kenya both public and private high schools cost hundreds of dollars in tuition each year. This means roughly two-thirds of Kenyans-many of them girls- will never complete high school because they are finacialy incapable of meeting these costs.

VoDA empowers kenyans to crete their own bright future.Just imagine for less than the price of your coffee each morning, you can help a kenyan orphan complete their schooling and give them a chance at a better life.

Our mission is to provide disadvantaged students in Kenya and their schools with support and educational resources so that they may improve their communities and break the cycle of poverty in Kenya.

VoDA is proud to offer a variety of ways to make a difference in this world. It is the perfect charity for concerned global citizens who insist on knowing how their money directly improves the lives of real people.

For those who prefer to give charitably while leaving monetary decisions to us,VoDA's high standards of accountability,VoDA's high standards of accountability to both the beneficiary and benefactor gurantee that your donation is used efficiently and responsibly. Here are some of the ways you can bring hope to kids in Kenya:

Gift Option 1

Direct sponsorship

This giving option is designed specifically for the careful donor who is keen on monitoring the direct effect that their contribution has to an individual student's life.Through the VoDA website,a sponsor is able to easily track the students academic progress by viewing their report cards as they are posted at the end of each term.In addition, each selected VoDA student is required to write a minimum of 3 letters annually and mail them directly to their sponsor's home.

A direct sponsorship is only  US $650 per year until your student graduates high school ( that totals to $2600 for four years of boarding school). This money benefits the student directly and covers the cost  of their:

  • School tuition
  • Room and board
  • Transportation.
  • Uniforms
  • Shoes
  • Books.
  • Tutouring
  • Mosquito nets.

It is a perfect option for past volunteers with VoDA,peace corps volunteers, expatriate, exchange students and any other foreigner who would like their contribution to assist a specific student.

Please note:With direct sponsorship you are matched with a direct student who becomes dependent on your annual donation to finsish high school.High school takes four years to complete,so you will be asked to give this amount each year until your student graduates.
There is no contract for you to sign, but please be aware that your dollars are spent directly on your student.Failure to pay annual fees will result in your students removal from school.

You may now sign up online to sponsor a kenyan student.VoDA accepts all major crdeit cards on our website through paypal. Please write to us which grade you wish to commence sponsoring a student so we may match you with the appropriate child.(example: a 7th grader will require a 6 year commitment from you at $650dollars).

There are no age or grade restrictions for sponsors who request a specific child whom they know.
